Scott Stapp – one of the most successful frontmen in the ’90s – has revealed that he is penniless, homeless and under attack by people who stole his money.
The Creed rocker and co-founder posted a 15-minute long video on his Facebook page, where he addressed rumors that said he is now doing drugs and alcohol. He maintains that he’s sober, saying that he subjected himself to weekly blood and urine tests immediately the rumors started so that he can prove his sobriety if the need arises.
Stapp revealed that his problems began about eight months ago after he conducted a personal audit on his bank accounts and discovered that he has been robbed of his music royalties and other payments. He also said the IRS has frozen his accounts, rendering him ‘completely penniless’ and unable to even buy anything to eat.
On top of that, he said someone, probably from the banks, had accessed his account online, changed the password, and cleared all the money in it. As a result, he has been left with nothing … and has been sleeping in his truck for two weeks until he found a place to stay in an inn. He also revealed that his attackers have threatened that if he goes public with what was really happening, his past will be dug up and used against him.
Throughout the video, Stapp repeatedly said he is a born-again Christian and for that reason, he has no choice but to forgive his persecutors. However, to clear his name and for the sake of his children, he is going to fight. For that reason, Stapp is calling for the help of an attorney, promising that he has all it takes to win the case he’s preparing to file.
This week, Miami Herald reported that Stapp’s wife Jaclyn filed for divorce, claiming that he had resumed doing meth and steroids … and had disappeared from their home since last month. She also claims Stapp had become paranoid due to the drugs, and has threatened to kill himself and harm his family.
But Stapp says his wife is trying to get him committed, hence the allegations.
