A doctor who allegedly abandoned a woman giving birth in his hospital to have sex with another patient has been suspended.
Dr Christopher Driskill, an obstetrician-gynecologist based in New Mexico, USA, is now facing a bucketful of additional allegations, which include writing lewd stuff on patients’ medical records, being drunk at work and illegally prescribing drugs to a sexual partner.
According to the New Mexico state medical board, several women who gave birth in his clinic have come forward with their testimonies of how the 42-year old Driskill abandoned them in the middle of childbirth, forcing hospital staff to call up all available nurses for the job. He also allegedly keeps a stash of alcohol in his desk at work.
For this reason, the board concluded that Driskill posed a ‘clear and danger to the public’ and so suspended him. ‘Your sexual relationships and abuse of alcohol have negatively affected your practice of medicine,’ the board wrote in his suspension notice.
Deliberations on whether to or not to revoke Driskill’s medical license are currently ongoing.
