Azealia Banks went after Iggy Azalea on Twitter on Wednesday night to accuse her of not showing any interest to serious ‘black issues’ – and this was shortly after it was announced that LAPD cop Daniel Pantaleo will not be indicted for putting Eric Garner on a chokehold that resulted in his death earlier this year.
‘its funny to see people Like Igloo Australia silent when these things happen…,’ tweeted Banks. ‘Black Culture is cool, but black issues sure aren’t huh? If you’re down to ride with us b*tch you gotta RIDE ALL THE WAY. Don’t just be down to ride Black D*ck….. If you with us you WITH US!!!!’
(Azalea is dating NBA player Nick Young, who is black).
Banks wasn’t done.
‘LOL… IM PETTY, but its so true, ugh, that wannabe black girl sh*t makes me wanna throw a jar of my piss at her LMFAOOOO. Like, fill a jar with piss and mayo and eggs and just dump that sh*t on that b*tch’s head LMFAOOOOOOO,’ she continued. ‘EVERYBODY WANNA BE BLACK, BUT DON’T NOBODY WANNA BE BLACK’ – PAUL MOONEY.’
In conclusion, Banks wrote, ‘And the media needs to STOP trying to move igloo in on what Nicki has established. Nicki is a hard-working rap-BEAST. stop trying to degrade and BELITTLE Our culture with this f*cking kkk iggy sh*t.’
In her response, Azalea decided to take the high road … and instead of resorting to exchanging expletives with Banks, she instead decided to school her on how to speak out against injustice instead of trolling on social media.
‘Theres more to sparking a change than trolling on social media,’ Azalea tweeted. ‘World issues shouldnt be used as a poor excuse to promote fan battles.’
She continued, ‘Make sure you do something to let YOUR government know how you feel when something is unjust, not JUST your followers on twitter… Make sure you sign petitions, hit the streets and protest or donate to groups helping to support and rebuild the community too.’
‘Also try not to judge anothers support or ‘lack there of’ solely on if they have ranted on twitter about it, thats not right or helpful,’ the rapper advised. ‘The world is too hung up on what is or isnt said on twitter. theres an actual world out there and multiple ways you can promote change.’
After tweeting a link to an article titled ‘5 Ways You Can Help Ferguson, Its Protesters, and Mike Brown’s Family’ with the caption ‘HERE ARE SOME ACTUAL PRODUCTIVE WAYS YOU CAN HELP’, Azalea noted minutes later, ‘Also the fact the actual link i posted about helping has the LEAST RT’s on my timeline lets me know your real concern is not awareness. CLEARLY your CONCERN is finding any reason to promote shade, trolling, fan fights and memes. I know you guys by now, you don’t fool me. respect and love to all who did RT the link about ways to get out there and actually do something. you guys rock, nighty night.’
Whose side are you on?
