Teresa Giudice has sued her lawyer Jim Kridel for malpractice, accusing him of being the reason why she’s going to jail for bankruptcy fraud.
According to the $5 million lawsuit filed on Wednesday, the Real Housewives of New Jersey star accused Kridel of failing to contact her before filing bankruptcy documents on her behalf in court. As a result, she claims the court never got to know about her other large assets, which include cars, multiple bank accounts and income from her rental properties.
During their sentencing in October, Teresa and her husband Joe were slammed by the judge for failing to disclose their assets. As part of a plea deal hashed out earlier, Teresa got 15 months in prison, which she will begin serving January 5.
Joe was sentenced to 41 months in jail, and he will begin serving his sentence after Teresa is done with hers. The judge made the arrangement so that one of the parents could be at home with their three teenage daughters.
