Donna Douglas – the actress who played the iconic character Elly May Clampett in The Beverly Hillbillies – has passed away. She was 81.
Douglas passed away in her home in Louisiana on New Year’s Day, her granddaughter confirmed. The official cause of death has not been disclosed.
Aside from starring in the successful The Beverly Hillbillies – which ran for 9 seasons from 1962 to 1971, Douglas also appeared in several shows including The Twilight Zone, Adam 12, The Adventures of Ozzy and Harriet and Mister Ed. She also starred alongside Elvis Presley in the 1966 movie Frankie and Johnny, and was in the 1981 movie sequel of the original Hillbillies series called Return of the Beverly Hillbillies.
