A Brazilian man rode himself to the hospital for two hours with a knife stuck deep into his head, it was reported on Tuesday.
36-year old motorbike taxi driver Juacelo Nunes was said to have got into an altercation with one man during a party in Agua Branca. Then the man called three of his friends, one of whom brought out a knife and sliced him first in the throat, shoulder and chest before leaving the knife stuck in his head.
According to the X-ray film obtained, the knife missed his left eye, pierced through his mouth and entered the right side of his jaw. ‘The knife passed through several nerves and veins, structures that can quickly kill a patient,’ said Gilberto Albuquerque, director of the hospital Nunes rode himself to, which is located in Teresina. Teresina is located 60 miles from Agua Branca
The knife was removed after a three-hour surgery, and surprisingly, Nunes recovered well enough to spend the New Year with his family.
‘It was a miracle,’ said his wife.
Indeed it was.
