Phylicia Rashad – the actress who played Bill Cosby’s wife on The Cosby Show – has broken her silence on the allegations of sexual abuse against her friend, blasting the accusers as women who are part of a massive conspiracy against the beloved comedian.
‘Forget these women. What you’re seeing is the destruction of a legacy,’ she told Showbiz 411. ‘I think it’s orchestrated. I don’t know why or who’s doing it, but it’s the legacy. And it’s a legacy that is so important to the culture.’
After saying that she loves Cosby, Rashad went on to state that she has never seen any of the behaviors the accusers allege Cosby has displayed.
‘Someone is determined to keep Bill Cosby off TV,’ she said. ‘And it’s worked. All his contracts have been canceled.’ Referring to The Cosby Show, Rashad said, ‘This show represented America to the outside world. This was the American family. And now you’re seeing it being destroyed. Why?’
Rashad also reacted to the allegations brought by the two most prominent women, former supermodels Janice Dickinson and Beverly Johnson. Dickinson claims Cosby raped her, while Johnson says he drugged her.
‘Oh, please,’ was how Rashad dismissed the supermodels’ claims when their names were brought up.
