An Alabama woman who ran an incest ring in the same family for three generations was handed the maximum sentence of 219 years in prison on Thursday.
35-year old Wendy Holland was ‘expressionless’ as the judge handed her the sentence after finding her guilty of several sex crimes including sodomy, sexual torture and sexual abuse against children under age 12. A family friend, 50-year old William ‘Billy’ Brownlee, was also sentenced to the maximum 20 years in jail for sodomy.
In addition to this sentence, both Holland and Brownlee still have pending convictions in a different county.
According to Al.com, the incest ring Holland championed lasted for decades and spanned three generations in the same family. According to prosecutors, even Holland and Brownlee may have been victims themselves more than 0 years ago.
‘Fourteen years I’ve been on the bench, I have never seen a case come as close as bad as this one has been in terms of acts of sexual abuse,’ said the Baldwin County judge before the sentencing. ‘The court can’t … understand why you did all of this action.’
‘The punishment I hand down today is one that should be imposed. I believe the range is not enough.’
