Suge Knight was on Friday morning arrested and charged with murder for allegedly killing his friend with his truck outside a movie set and then fleeing the scene.
According to multiple reports, Knight got into an altercation with two men during the shooting of a commercial for the upcoming movie Straight out of Compton featuring Ice Cube and Dr Dre. Police say he went back to his truck after the fight and left … only for him to be involved in another incident with the same people outside a fast food restaurant several minutes later.
According to police, Suge put his truck in reverse and hit the victims, and then ‘drove forwards and struck them again.’ This resulted in the death of one man identified as his friend Terry Carter, who was his passenger in the truck. The two other people injured are in hospital – one of them Training Day actor Cle ‘Bone’ Sloan, who eyewitnesses and detectives say was Suge’s intended target.
Carter’s relative told TMZ that eyewitnesses said Suge got into a fight with Cle ‘Bone’ Sloan while he was sitting in his truck. Then Suge put his car on reverse and hit him …. and as he lay injured on the ground, Carter rushed behind the truck to pull him out of the way. That was when Suge drove forward, put his car on reverse and aimed towards Bone … only to run over Carter’s head.
Suge turned himself to police for questioning after he was declared a ‘person of interest’ in what his lawyer James Blatt called a’tragic accident.’ ‘He was in the process of being physically assaulted by two men and in an effort to escape he unfortunately hit two [other] individuals,’ Blatt told The Associated Press. ‘We are confident that once the investigation is completed, he will be totally exonerated.’
After interviewing him, police formally arrested and charged Suge with murder, saying that while the rap mogul never intended to kill his friend, he clearly wanted to kill Bone. Under California law, such scenario still qualifies as murder.
His bail has been set at $2 million.
