Poker legend Doyle Brunson announced on Twitter over the weekend that Bruce Jenner – who he adored on the tracks back in the day – is no longer his hero because he decided to change into a woman.
The 81-year old drew some backlash when he tweeted, ‘I can’t believe Bruce Jenner is trying to become a woman? He was a hero of mine since I was involved in track long ago. #Sayitsnottrue.’ He also followed up with this: ‘this man was an Olympic champion that set all kind of records. That’s a woman? My hero? Come on!’
When the backlash became intense, the 10-time WSOP champion defiantly tweeted in response, ‘I remember the pride I felt when Bruce Jenner ran around the track waving an American flag after setting records at the Olympics … He may still be some people’s hero, but not me.’
The tweets have since been deleted.
