Afroman – the rapper best known for his song Because I Got High – really got physically high on a female fan who dared come onstage – by giving her a devastating punch to the head that promptly sent her to the ground.
The video of the incident, which was shot during a concert in Biloxi, Mississippi on Tuesday and has gone viral, shows the rapper soloing on his guitar … and then without warning, turning around and punching the fan, who had come on the stage and was dancing near him. Then he resumed performing.
Despite the powerful punch, the girl regained her composure and walked off the stage, bleeding and crying. Later police stopped the show halfway, escorted Afroman outside, and arrested him for assault. He has since posted a $330 bail.
‘This was a completely involuntary reflex reaction to people infringing on his stage space. It was uncharacteristic behavior that was initiated by outside uncontrolled forces,’ said Afroman’s rep in a statement. He also blamed a lack of security in the venue, as well as the fact that Afroman really doesn’t like people coming onstage (see video of him tossing out a male fan from stage during a Cincinnati concert in December below) for the punch.
Afroman later went on TMZ Live, where he apologized for punching the girl and announced he was going to ‘inpatient anger management rehab.’
