Beyonce was a victim of a wicked death hoax Monday night, as a fake ‘CNN’ story claiming that the singer had died in a car accident caused a massive reaction on Twitter.
The fake CNN ‘breaking news’ titled ‘Music Sensation Beyonce Knowles Dies in Car Crash’ claimed:
Super star songstress and wife to billionaire music mogul Sean ‘Jay-Z’ Carter, Beyoncé Knowles today died in a ghastly car accident on the way back from a meeting with one of her executives.
So far there has been no further news from either her husband or her family. This marks a huge blow to an industry.
To add to the problem, a Twitter account with the handle @CnnNewsFacts – which is not affiliated with CNN – sent out a ‘breaking news’ tweet containing a link to the fake story and a photo of the supposed crash scene – which in actuality was a TMZ photo of the scene of Paul Walker’s fatal accident in 2013.
Despite the obvious fakery exposed by that TMZ photo, the fact that TMZ didn’t even report on the story and also the fact that the CNN website design and that of the fake site do not match, it still didn’t stop people from getting deceived and for ‘#RIPBeyonce’ to trend on Twitter.
Rest assured everyone. Bey is alive and kicking.
