Michelle Rodriguez ignited controversy Friday night after saying that Hollywood minorities, aka blacks and Latinas (especially blacks), should stop ‘stealing’ white superhero characters.
A TMZ paparazzo spotted the actress leaving Katsuya and asked her of the rumor circulating that she’s set to play the Green Lantern (a white superhero). Her answer: ‘That’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard. I think it’s so stupid… because of this whole, like, “minorities in Hollywood” thing… it’s so stupid, it’s, like, stop stealing all the white people’s superheroes. Make up your own, you know what I’m saying? What’s up with that?’
Well her comments did not sit well with some people, resulting in the same kind of controversy that hit Rush Limbaugh when he said that Idris Elba cannot play James Bond because he is black.
On Saturday afternoon, Rodriguez posted a video on Facebook apologizing for offending some people by her comments, but maintaining that people should stop being ‘lazy’ and create their own characters.
