An anti-drug organization in The Philippines have begun a campaign asking One Direction to take drug tests before their March 21-22 ‘On the Road Again’ concerts in Manila or else they won’t be allowed to enter the country.
The organization, Laban ng Pamilyang Pilipino, has already sent a petition to the country’s Bureau of Immigration to force the band to undergo the tests because it ‘is for the welfare of their fans, mostly youth.
The organization is basing their demand on last year’s leaked video of Zayn Malik and Louis Tomilson smoking weed while on their way to a Mexico concert venue … and as you can see below, Laban ng even used a screengrab from the video to promote their cause, writing, ‘No Drug test, no entry!’
Unhappy Directioners expressed their displeasure Thursday morning by causing ‘#StopTheDRUGTESTfor1DPH’ to trend worldwide on Twitter. ‘I hate the Philippine gov. to be honest. Corruption, War between religion and now a Drug test for the 1D Concert ?’ tweeted one angry fan. Another added, ‘IM 100% SURE THAT THE GOVERMENT HAVE BETTER THINGS TO DO THAN TEST A BOYBAND FOR DRUG USE.’
Other settled to reminding the Filipino government that One Direction helped raise funds to victims of the devastating typhoon that hit the country last year. ‘THE GOVT ARE FORGETTING THAT THESE BOYS USED THEIR IMAGE TO HELP US OUT WHEN WE NEEDED IT,’ one native fan wrote.
The commissioner of the Bureau of Immigration said of the petition, ‘If given enough information, we can actually prevent these drug users from entering the country.’
