Fashion Police has been placed on temporary hiatus, it was announced Tuesday night.
The announcement was made by E!, who said in a statement, ‘E!’s comedy series “Fashion Police” is going on hiatus and will return in September. We look forward to taking this opportunity to refresh the show before the next awards season. Our talented co-hosts Giuliana Rancic and Brad Goreski, along with Executive Producer Melissa Rivers, will continue their roles as we evolve the show into its next chapter for the legions of “Fashion Police” fans around the world.’
This decision is a sharp contrast to what the network said last week while reacting to news about Kathy Griffin’s unexpected resignation from the show. Then, it said Fashion Police will air as scheduled in March, even though it had only two Rancic and Goreski left to host it.
While speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, NBCUniversal Lifestyle Networks Group president Frances Berwick admitted they brought back the show ‘too soon’ after Joan Rivers’ death, and revealed they even considered cancelling it but decided against it due to its popularity and the fans.
The Wrap, however, reports that there is still a possibility of E! ultimately cancelling the show because of the recent bad press and problems with advertisers … but the cancellation will be done ‘quietly.’
