Robert Durst was planning to flee the country under a new identity before he was arrested, it has been reported.
According to TMZ, cops executed a search warrant in Durst’s hotel room after he was arrested, and they found a latex face mask designed to cover his head and neck and completely conceal his facial markings. On top of that, cops recovered a fake Texas ID with the name Everette Ward, as well as $46,000 in $100 notes packed in several envelopes.
That’s not all.
According to the warrant report, cops also found an UPS tracking number, leading them to suspect that the real estate heir, who is worth $100 million, was trying to ship out his money. And to reinforce their belief, authorities obtained bank records showing that Durst withdrew $9,000 a day for 35 consecutive days.
Durst was on Monday officially charged with first degree murder for the 2000 death of his friend Susan Berman. If convicted, he is most likely to face the death penalty.
