Giuliana Rancic has spoken up about the endless speculation surrounding her thin frame, saying that she knows she’s too thin and there is a reason why.
The E! News anchor has been a subject of weight loss discussions ever since she walked the Golden Globes red carpet in January sporting a thinner-than-ever physique. Many had concluded that her breast cancer – for which she underwent a double mastectomy in 2011 – has returned, while others speculated that she has an eating disorder.
Apparently the speculation has not died down yet, and now Rancic has decided to set records straight, revealing that the anti-cancer drug she has been taking since 2012 is behind her present body constitution.
‘Some people were saying, “The cancer is probably back,”‘ she tells People. ‘And they were accusing me of every eating disorder. I thought to myself, “God, if someone really thought I had an eating disorder, what a horrible way to approach it.”‘
‘I eat more than any of my friends,’ she continues. ‘I eat a very robust, healthy, balanced diet and dessert almost every night. I’m not hiding from anything.’
‘I started noticing that I was eating a lot, but not gaining weight at all,’ Rancic says. ‘I was concerned. I look in the mirror and it’s hard for me. I am really thin. I want to look fit and beautiful and sexy, and I can’t.’
She also revealed that a publishing company who earlier agreed to do a photoshoot with her for her memoir recently backed out of the deal, saying that she was ‘too thin.’
‘That was really hurtful,’ she recalls. ‘I thought, ‘Wow, I’m on cancer medication. I’m doing the best that I can.’
And as for online commenters who bashed her body weight, Rancic had this to say, ‘It’s really hurtful. I’m sorry that some people think I’m disgustingly skinny, as they put it, but there’s nothing I can do. I’m lucky that I even have the type of cancer that reacts to the medicine.’
‘I refuse to be broken [by what people say]. I have so many beautiful things in my life.’
