Terrence Howard is accusing his ex-wife Michelle Ghent of blackmailing him into paying her an exorbitant money in spousal support by threatening to leak naked photos and videos of him to the media if he does not cooperate.
Howard and Michelle split in 2011 after just one year of marriage and went through a nasty divorce, which was finalized in 2012. But the two apparently did not mend fences as in the following year, Michelle accused Howard of beating her up during a family vacation in Costa Rica, an allegation he denied.
Fast forward to 2015 … and now Howard is making it big by starring in FOX series Empire. On Tuesday, TMZ reported that Michelle filed court documents claiming that he was stiffing her of thousands of dollars he made from the show, which rightly belongs to her according to the spousal support agreement.
Terrence is required to pay Michelle $5,800 a month in spousal support, but if he makes more than $62,500 a quarter, she gets 21% of the excess. According to her docs, Terrence made $125,000 an episode in Season 1 and he’s sure to get a huge raise.
Given that Empire began shooting in September, Ghent has calculated the amount Howard owes her … and she claims it totals ‘$508,000 and counting.’
But now the actor is fighting back.
According to TMZ, Howard will file a legal complaint this month saying that his ex wife is blackmailing him into paying her more money despite the fact that she is already receiving more than what she’s legally entitled to. Ghent is supposed to receive money for half of the time they were married (six months), but she’s getting support for five years.
Howard also claims that Ghent is now threatening to leak alleged naked photos and videos of him if he doesn’t give in to her demands.
