Comedy legend Anne Meara, best known for her works with husband Jerry Stiller, has died. She was 85.
Meara’s death was announced on Sunday by her family via a statement furnished to the media, but the cause of death was not disclosed.
‘The Stiller family is deeply saddened to share the beloved Anne Meara passed away last night at the age of 85,’ reads the statement. ‘She is survived by her husband and partner in life Jerry Stiller. The two were married for 61 years and worked together almost as long. Anne’s memory lives on in the hearts of daughter Amy, son Ben, her grandchildren, her extended family and friends, and the millions she entertained as an actress, writer and comedienne.’
Meara and her husband co-starred in a variety of shows beginning from the 60s to 2001, her last movie appearance being in 2011’s Off-Broadway play Love, Loss, and What I Wore.
