B.B King’s death was caused by type 2 diabetes complications, says the coroner. But his daughters now believe that he was poisoned by his long-time manager.
The blues legend died on May 15 at home after spending a short time at a hospice following a diabetic crisis. Before that happened, Patty King accused his manager Laverne Toney of deliberately withholding her father’s medication and called cops on her after an argument broke out on whether he should be taken to the hospital. Thereafter, Patty and her sister Karen Williams filed a suit against Toney, alleging elder abuse … but the case was thrown out by the judge.
Last week, the coroner and King’s Las Vegas physician determined that he died from multiple mini-strokes and infarct-dementia resulting from his diabetes. An autopsy has been performed, the result of which will be ready in the next eight weeks.
Homicide detectives are currently investigating.
