Sir Christopher Lee, a veteran actor best known for playing Saruman in Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, has died aged 93.
According to The Guardian, Lee had been hospitalized for respiratory problems and heart failure. He died on Sunday morning at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London.
Known as the Master of Horror, Lee made a name for himself by playing villainous characters. He played the villain Count Dooku in the first two Star Wars episodes, as well as Count Dracula in several flicks. He also played villainous roles in some James Bond movies. He was knighted in 2009 for his services to drama and society.
Lee is survived by his wife of 54 years Birgit Lee and a daughter.
