Iggy Azalea has denied blaming Britney Spears for the poor performance of their music duet Pretty Girls, even though what she said on Twitter Sunday strongly suggested that.
As ENTmania! reported, Azalea tweeted to fans during a conversation, ‘Its difficult to send a song up the charts without additional promo and tv performances etc. unfortunately im just featured… I would have enjoyed performing it alot, i think it got off to a powerful start. but you need content to compete in 2015 … my comment is factual, it applies to any song. I dont have to suck the womans a****** 24/7 to be her friend, do i? bye girls.’
Well many news outlets, including ENTmania!, interpreted these tweets as Iggy indirectly casting the blame of the song’s failure squarely on Spears, who is known for not giving promotional appearances and interviews. But now Azalea says it’s not so.
Linking to a Billboard article titled, ‘Iggy Azalea Blamed Britney Spears for “Pretty Girls” Not Being a Hit,’ the rapper tweeted, ‘please stop. its honestly so desperate at this point its cringe worthy. guys, really? is THAT what i said.’
She further tweeted to her fans, ‘im not attacking anyone. all i said was: i wish we had promoted more but thats out of my control. shes a good friend … Genuine friends have genuine opinions. Its possible & healthy to have a differing thought without it being bitchy or shade.’
And there was this: ‘maybe its time you all start questioning the tabloids motivation. its not to report genuine news.’
