Ariana Grande has apologized for saying, ‘I hate America’ in a donut shop on Saturday.
On Monday, a security cam footage from the Wolfee Donuts in Lake Elsinore, CA showing the singer with her backup-dancer ‘boyfriend’ licking donuts for sale (without buying them, btw) and saying, ‘What the f**k is that? I hate Americans. I hate America. That’s disgusting’ as a fresh batch of large donuts was brought out went viral, with many people blasting her for allegedly fat-shaming people with obesity.
Grande’s fans also urged her to apologize both for the comments and for licking donuts without buying them, but in a statement released on Tuesday, she apologized for the former and not for the latter.
‘I am EXTREMELY proud to be an American and I’ve always made it clear that I love my country,’ she said. ‘What I said in a private moment with my friend, who was buying the donuts, was taken out of context and I am sorry for not using more discretion with my choice of words.’
