Miley Cyrus will host this year’s MTV Video Music Awards, it has been announced.
The announcement was made on Monday by both Cyrus and MTV, who posted the above photo on their Twitter accounts. ‘F**k yeah VMAs!!!!! #VMAs on @MTV Aug 30 at 9pm,’ Cyrus tweeted.
This is apparently an epic comeback for the singer, who became infamous in 2013 after performing a sexually charged, twerk-infested rendition of We Can’t Stop and Blurred Lines with Robin Thicke. That performance triggered a series of events that resulted in her being dumped by her then fiance Liam Hemsworth, and Thicke getting divorced by his wife Paula Patton.
MTV’s decision to have Cyrus host the same show that made her a global laughing stock is apparently an attempt to generate the kind of buzz they enjoyed in 2013, which did not come their way in 2014.
