A frustrated Kanye West threw up his microphone and walked off stage during Sunday’s Pan American Games closing ceremony in Toronto … because the darn thing stopped working smack into his performance.
The rapper was performing his 2007 hit Good Life when his microphone stopped working. As a result, he couldn’t hear himself and the crowd couldn’t either, which created an awkward situation that ultimately ended with him throwing up his mic and walking away.
Later on, the organizers tweeted that West experienced a ‘technical error’ that only affected the live crowd and not the people watching at home.
It was a dramatic end to an appearance that was initially met with protests when it was first announced. Earlier this month, a petition demanding that West be removed as a headliner because he is not Canadian gathered hundreds of thousands of signatures … but failed to achieve its ultimate aim.
