Kelly Osbourne has responded to the backlash her comments on Tuesday’s The View generated, admitting that she ‘whole-hearted f***d up today’ but insisting that she is not a racist.
As ENTmania! reported earlier today, Osbourne was trying to slam Donald Trump for his stance on illegal Mexican immigrants, but ended up offending the people she was trying to defend by inadvertently reducing them to people good enough for doing the dirtiest jobs no one else will ever touch. ‘If you kick every Latino out of this country, then who is going to be cleaning your toilet, Donald Trump?’ was what she said, triggering a firestorm of criticism that, as at the time of this report, has not abated.
Now in a statement released on Facebook, the TV personality said, ‘I want to start by saying I ALWAYS take responsibility for my actions. In this particular case I will take responsibility for my poor choice of words but I will not apologize for being a racist as I am NOT.’
She continued, ‘I whole-hearted f***d up today. I don’t want to bullsh*t anyone with lame excuses. Although, I was stopped mid-sentence by Rosie and couldn’t finish my point I will not let Rosie take responsibility for my words. I should have known better as I was on The View and it was live. I’ve learned a very valuable lesson.’
She then ended with this: ‘It is my hope that this situation will open up a conversation about immigration and the Latin community as a whole. By the way I clean my own f***ing toilets.’
