Kelly Osbourne’s attempt to blast Donald Trump for his stance on Mexican immigrants ended up backfiring on her, thanks to her poor use of figurative speech.
The TV personality was at The View on Tuesday, where she confidently blurted out, ‘If you kick every Latino out of this country, then who is going to be cleaning your toilet, Donald Trump?’
Translation: Kelly thinks that if Trump succeeds in kicking every illegal Mexican immigrant out of the US, then there will be no one left to well, do the most unpalatable menial jobs for rich Americans.
Realizing her gaffe, Osbourne desperately tried to clarify her statement. But it was too late, because her name began trending on Twitter with many blasting her as a racist and hypocrite.
‘I wonder if Kelly Osbourne will throw herself under the racist bus as hard as she threw Giuliana Rancic?’ tweeted TMZ on TV producer Dax Holt, obviously in reference to the way she quit Fashion Police earlier this year because of Rancic’s comment about Zendaya’s Oscars dreadlocks, which the latter publicly said was racist.
Other Twitter comments include, ‘Okay so the same person, Kelly Osbourne, that said she DOESN’T tolerate racism, just said Latinas clean toilets,’ ‘Kelly Osbourne just needs to not open her mouth. She literally quit Fashion Police after Giuliana’s statement but makes one just as bad,’ and ‘Kelly Osbourne is such a hypocrite she made a fuss when Guliana Ranic made a racist comment yet she’s done the exact same… Well then.’
But the most mind-boggling response came from co-host Rosie Perez, who had challenged Osborne’s statement on the show. After the show went off air, Perez tweeted, ‘My apologies @KellyOsbourne, I took your point wrong-#Trump #Latinos. My bad. You’re heart is so pure & righteous. I adore you. ‘
