The 20-year old son of a rich Swiss millionaire burnt his $245,000 Ferrari (charred remains above) because he wanted his dad to buy him a new one.
According to 20 Minutes newspaper, the spoiled brat already has 14 cars minus the Ferrari … and one of them is a Lamborghini. His dad also gave him a property portfolio worth around $30 million, and gives him $10,000 a month as pocket money.
But all this apparently meant nothing to the son, who started desiring a new Ferrari after getting his old one valued. According to him, his car dealer convinced him to commit insurance fraud … and he did that by hatching out a plan with his friends to burn the car.
The son said he paid three people $15,000 to burn the car over the nearby German border, while he tried to distance himself from it by visiting a massage parlor. However, his genius plan was foiled by security cameras, which filmed the whole arson and determined who was responsible.
The son confessed in court that he had run out of cash at the time of the incident, and that he was afraid of telling his dad that he did not like the Ferrari Italia, which the latter had bought for him.
He was sentenced to 22 months probation and fined $32,000.
