Chris Brown has been denied entry into Australia due to his conviction in the 2009 Rihanna beating case.
On Friday, Australian authorities confirmed that they have formally denied Brown’s tour visa application. The singer has already been given a formal notice regarding the denial.
Brown has shows scheduled to take place in three Australian cities in December, but news of his upcoming concerts has been greeted with protests from several prominent Australian citizens, including the Prime Minister. On Thursday, the country’s new women’s minister Michelia Cash said, ‘People need to understand if you are going to commit domestic violence and then you want to travel around the world, there are going to be countries that say to you, “You cannot come in because you are not of the character we expect in Australia.”‘
Brown has 28 days to appeal the visa denial.
