A new infographic has shown up online chronicling how 10 celebrities squandered their millions of hard-earned dollars on vanity, bad decisions, or just plain foolishness.
Tax-resolution company Community Tax took it upon themselves to compile the list of 10 notable, money-hemorrhaging celebrities with the aim of showing the world how making loads of money can lead to fatal financial mistakes, and how you can avoid them.
Those that made the top 10 list include Oscar-winning actor Nicolas Cage, who spent his $150 million fortune on things like dinosaur’s skull, albino cobras and shrunken pygmy heads … but now has to pay back over $13 million in taxes. He now lives in a rented home in Las Vegas, away from where things are happening.
Another celeb that made the list include DMX, a multi-platinum rapper who once saw his $30 million fortune go down to a mere $50 in 2013 due to multiple arrests for criminal behavior and tax evasion. He’s still being plagued by the law and his baby mamas … and has not cleared his debt.
Others include Real Housewives of New Jersey star Teresa Giudice (currently in jail for money fraud), Lindsay Lohan (whose well-documented bad choices/behavior almost ended her career and plunged her into debt), MTV star Heidi Montag (who spent all her $10 million earnings on plastic surgery and reckless shopping), PGA star John Daly (who lost more than what he earned in his career to gambling) and MLB star Curt Schilling (who filed for bankruptcy after investing most of his $114 million fortune on a failed video game).
The infographic, notably, did not include ace music producer Scott Storch, whose lavish lifestyle and cocaine addiction saw his over $70 million fortune plunge to a staggering $100 cash, a single wristwatch and some clothes. With a $4.4 million debt waiting to be paid, Storch filed for bankruptcy in June.
Now to the big question. Who among the listed celebs is the worst of them all?
‘In my personal opinion, I would say Nicolas Cage is the worst offender listed,’ Community Tax analyst Brett Bastello tells ENTmania. ‘I say this due to the amount of money he spent and the way in which he spent it.’
Bastello also added that it was the recent travails of 50 Cent and former NFL player Terrell Owens (also in the list) – who is currently trying to stage a comeback to the game despite being 42 years old – as the inspiration behind the infographic.
